Dorraine's Replacement Camera Fund

Donation protected
About four years ago,  after a tough divorce, I found myself in a deep depression and  was unable to get out of bed for days at a time.  But I'm a nature lover, and on the advice of a good friend, I started taking walks in the woods to clear my head and reduce my stress. And when I did that, I found the wildlife was everywhere. There was so much of it that just seemed to jump right out in front of me, that I thought I surely should start taking pictures of what I was seeing.  I started trying to capture it with my phone, but that wasn't working very well. So that same friend, who just happened to be a photographer, gave me one of his used DSLR cameras to use.  He told me I had a gift and should keep taking pictures and improving my skills.  And the rest is history.  But this friend has since passed away and the camera he gave me has been used so much by me that it finally gave out recently.  Photography is the one thing that always seems to keep my depression and anxiety at bay, It seems strange that a little thing like that can mean so much to me and do so much for me on a daily basis that no medication ever could.  And my current financial situation doesn't allow me to replace the camera, while I now consider my photos as a kind of living memorial to my friend.  Like keeping a legacy going.  More than anything, I would love to continue that legacy; to improve my skills and eventually become a professional.  And I'm only asking for a little of your help to do that. Thanks so much!
