Buddy the Tripod's Dental Surgery

Doots (aka Buddy the Tripod) is our fantastic little Pomchi.  He came to us 3 years ago, as a rescue, after a miraculous near miss with death.

Back in 2011 a good samaritan brought a little pomchi puppy into Valley Animal Hospital that had been hit by a car.  He had  severe damage to his legs and chest and was badly concussed.  Dr. Ivy stabalized him. and amputated his back right leg.  She didn't think he would live.

Little Doots had to be turned every couple of hours for the first couple weeks.  He began to recover and learned to walk on his two left legs.  His front right leg did not function and Dr. Ivy scheduled a surgery to remove it.  Doots must have heard...because the day before the surgery it miraculously started working.  He became known as Buddy the Tripod.

He stayed with the lady who nursed him back to health until he came to live with us.  He is the most amazing little creature....sweet, funny, intelligent, charming, well behaved.  He loves to go traveling and exploring with us...from ocean beaches to deep forests to mountain tops.  He gets around better on three legs than most dogs do on four.

We took him to see Dr. Ivy last week, as his face was puffy and he was obviously suffering great pain in his mouth.  She informed us he has abcessed teeth due to periodontal disease and has to have several teeth removed......and soon.   Peridontal disease can lead to death in dogs if not treated.  The estimate - $1,500.00.

Doots is a valued member of our family now and a constant source of joy.  I cannot imagine losing him or him going through any more debilitating pain.  He has gone through so much already in life...and is he happiest little dog you could ever meet.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources for this.  I decided to  start this gofundme and hopefully we can raise the funds needed.

*UPDATE*
I spent the last two weeks searching around for any programs/assistance I could find and price checking at different vets.  I finally found a local vet (Bremerton Animal Hospital) who looked at Doot's mouth and they said they could do it for no more than $550!  I am ecstatic - not only is that 1/3 of our first estimate...but a much more reasonable goal.
