Donnie lost his forehead, part of frontal lobe, whole center face, top lip, upper palate and nose to a rare cancer called, Ameloblastic carcinoma.
It is a rare facial cancer. At the time he was diagnosed, he was told that he was #16 worldwide with this diagnosis. Since then, he and Sharon, his wife, have been told that there are less than 100 documented cases. His doctors have told him that he is the longest living survivor of this cancer.
Donnie has had over 40 surgeries and procedures to reconstruct his face. He had 36 radiation treatments. Sharon has been by his side for all visits, surgeries and treatments. She is his full time, unpaid caregiver. She is devoted to Donnie and to seeing him healthy and happy.
Donnie now faces the possibility of losing his bottom teeth and lower jaw without intensive treatments.
The only hold back is the lack of funds. Donnie is disabled and his medicare/medicaid doesn't pay for these treatments.
We are asking you to please help Donnie get healthy enough to have a better quality of life, in spite of his loss.
The money goes directly into a 501(c)(3) account set up by the Barrett Road COG. It is a benevolence fund.
Donnie and Sharon have no access to the fund whatsoever. It is used specifically to pay for medical treatments, surgery, doctor visits and medical travel expenses.
If you need a receipt to be used for your taxes, after your donation clears through the bank, I will send you one. Again, this is a 501(c)(3) account.
We feel that Donnie deserves a chance at being whole.
