Donations for Rohingya Refugees
Donation protected
I (Kristin Jones) will be travelling to the Rohingya refugee camps in early March. After spending 10 years in Bangladesh and India and becoming fluent in language and culture, I have continued my non-profit work in NYC with Bengali immigrants.
The situation in the camps are dire. You can read and stay up to date at http://www.cnn.com/specials/asia/rohingya
I need money to buy supplies in country such as soap, tarps for the coming monsoon rains, buckets to collect rain water, medicine, and other basic supplies. I will be collecting donations of used prescription glasses and unlocked phones, please comment below for details on where to drop off/mail them.
It looks like my travel and lodging expenses will be covered by a nonprofit organization but I will have other expenses as well such as Typhoid and Cholera immunizations.
I also hope to have meetings with nonprofits in the country about how we can offer job training to the nearly 300,000 women (800,000 in all as of January 2018) and help them move to more stable areas and be able to support themselves and their families who are now largely without husband/fathers after the Myanmar ethnic cleansing which prompted their flight to Bangladesh.
