Dominican Republic Missions Trip

As many of you know I went through a program called Emerge a few years ago. This year I was offered an opportunity to be involved in a Second Year program of Emerge. This year will be more ministry and leadership based, and God is doing some great things in and through all 10 of us.
This April, my fellow Emerge students and I plan to go on a mission trip to Dominican Republic. I believe this trip is the next step in my journey and I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity! Those of you who know me well know that this will be my first overseas mission trip! I have always had a heart for missions and I am so grateful that I finally get to walk it out.
We plan to leave April 25th and return on May 2nd. We will be staying and working with established missionaries Rick and Carie Bernard. The couple lives full time in San Cristóbal. They oversee the Bread of Life Orphanage and Feeding Center, a Haitian refugee camp, and a medical clinic. Our team will have the opportunity to work alongside all of their ministries. We also plan to do basic street evangelism and partner with the local church. While meeting the physical needs of the people we will embrace the opportunity to love them like Jesus. The total cost of the trip including airfare, food, room, and board is $1,500.00.
I am writing you to ask for two things: prayer and financial support. I believe in the power of prayer and know that God has the ability to use my team to do great things in His name. I am asking you to pray for safety and that the Lord would soften the hearts of the people we come in contact with. If you are able to support my trip financially I would be very appreciative. I am grateful for your support throughout my journey. I look forward to telling you about the amazing things God will do!
