NYCACC Rescue Muneca Has Pneumonia

"Hi, My name is Muneca (which means Doll in Spanish) so I’m now being called 'Dolly'. I received this nickname because everyone says I’m such a sweet dog - that I’m just a doll!

Unfortunately my family couldn’t keep me and I found myself at the NYCACC where I came down with that awful kennel cough. I was lucky that a foster through AmsterDog was willing to help me get to freedom and into a safe home…but by then my kennel cough had developed into pneumonia.

I was rushed to the vet and the pneumonia was so bad that after several days of antibiotics, I wasn’t showing any progress and everyone was worried I wasn’t going to make it.

So they put me in an oxygen tent and that, combined with IV antibiotics, seemed to what I needed to help get me on my way to recovery.

My foster mom says, “I was genuinely worried she was going to die. But just when things looked the most bleak, Dolly’s condition took a turn for the better. Based on what the doctor has seen since, she is really encouraged that Dolly will make a full recovery. If we can just get her through this, we know she’ll be a phenomenal dog that any forever family would be lucky to have. After all, even the doctor confessed that she was quickly falling in love with sweet Dolly and now refers to her as ‘Lovely’.”

But the bad news is that the vet bill for my recovery is up to $4,000 which is devastating for a rescue like AmsterDog which is only able to help dogs in need, like myself, through the kindness of donors.

If you can find it in your heart to help me raise $2,000, a generous donor has agreed to match that to help us pay the total $4,000 vet bill.

Any amount you can spare, no matter how small or large, will be a step towards our goal. Every gift matters!
