When TEDx invites you to showcase your stuff, you mobilize. And that's just what we did!

On Saturday, Sept. 9th, 2017, before an estimated attendee roster of more than 800 investors, financiers, tech, design and entertainment execs and nonprofits, and a plethora of people who dedicate their professional lives to inventing the future, the Petaluma Radio Players  presented our special brand of:

                                      'Retro on Demand'

to participants at TEDxMarin.  Now we're ready to take our Troupe and our vintage radio shows to the next level. But we need your help. We must cover the investment we made this month to appear before the people (like you) who can help bring live and recorded vintage radio theatre and modern plays produced in vintage style to people everywhere, through the 21st- century miracle of the PODCAST.

We're THE PETALUMA RADIO PLAYERS , and we
'Like talking...ON-AIR!' And so do our growing online and broadcast audiences.  We're the Bay Area radio theatre troupe that records and stages vintage radio dramas and modern dramas produced in vintage style.  You can hear us in Sonoma County, California, on public radio station kpca-fm (103.3) and on the web every Tuesday at www.kpca.fm. We also have our own Podcast: petalumaradioplayers.com.  And we're totally self-funded.

Now in our fourth year, we're this quirky troupe of thespians, writers, producers and audio editors who love to mix old and new. Our microphones? We couldn't afford the real thing, so we PRINTED VINTAGE 'SHURE'-STYLE MICS ON A 3D PRINTER.  The audience at Hotel Petaluma, where we perform our live shows to SRO audiences twice a year, loved 'em.  And in those live shows, we "broadcast" our plays right through that 1940 Zenith cabinet radio you see in the photo here on our page.  All sound effects are LIVE, too. Our Foley team can take a Bingo cage full of golf balls and, when you close your eyes, convince you that you've just heard a 1930s Pullman locomotive pulling out of the station.

At TEDxMarin, when attendees stood mesmerized before our table, we invited them to participate in a live, vintage radio AUDITION.  We whipped out a script, gave them mild directions, and let it rip!  Now five talented attendees out of dozens who auditioned have been tapped to appear in one or more of our future plays to be broadcast on kpca-fm (103.3).

HOW CAN YOU HELP US RIGHT NOW?

Easy. When you provide your financial support ($10, $25, $50, $75, $100....or $500), we'll mobilize.  Again. For the first time in our history, a history that includes sponsoring new playwrights from around the nation whose works might otherwise never see the light of day, we're going four (4) nights solid with three VERY, VERY FUNNY Sherlock Holmes comedies.  The event:

                        'HOLMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS'
                             Dec. 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2017

Written by a U.K. playwright, these comedies are a tasteful riot. Indeed, who knew the world's most famous detective could be so....funny?  We intend to stage and record live three of these very well-written plays. In studio, we've already recorded two of them. Now we want to take them before live audiences, tapping a cast of  15 thespians per play, two of whom, actors Iain M. and Paul R., are emerging as the perfect pairing of Holmes and Watson for new-millennium audiences. Together, these men make magic!

And coupled with our Foley team, who will be producing live sound effects on stage (nothing digital here, folks!),  we predict that our audiences will be immensely entertained and become instant converts to radio theatre the way it was presented to audiences in the 1930s and 40s.

And we think we know why. Because unlike YouTube and television, radio invites you to create in your mind. Those other media leave almost nothing to the imagination.

So please help us rescue imaginations worldwide.

You can do this.

When you do, we'll deliver for you.

Thank you! Be sure to write us with any questions you may have. Oh, and if you have an idea for a play or even a script you would like us to consider, SEND IT OVER! We hold script review sessions the 3rd Thursday of every month. If we select yours, even if it was not written for radio, we'd be delighted to adapt it and bring your characters and your story to life!

WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE AND SUPPORT US:

'SPONSOR A FIRST RESPONDER'
The recent firestorms in Northern California devastated thousands of families and businesses. Without the efforts of First Responders from Fire Departments and Law Enforcement, the devastation would have been much worse. To give back to the men and women who bravely fought the fires and assisted families escaping from their homes, The Petaluma Radio Players has set up a special 'Sponsor a First Responder' program. If you designate your purchase 'S.A.F.(e) R.' we'll make sure that your ticket is given to a firefighter, deputy sheriff, or police officer.  Fee for sponsoring a First Responder: $30.

OTHER WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE
-- Contributions of any amount of $20 or more automatically ensure that you'll be immortalized in the Sponsors section of our Playbill.
