Disabled Vet Needs Our Help

Chet Long, an Air Force disabled veteran, has been dealing with and receiving treatment for PTS, depression, and anxiety for several years. While receiving in-patient treatment in November, his roommate stole several items from him. Upon returning home, Chet invited another disabled veteran whom he met in treatment to stay with him, as the man had no where else to go.

Over the following weeks, this troubled individual emotionally manipulated Chet, isolated him from his friends, and physically assaulted him before encouraging and facilitating his suicide attempt while threatening to carry out a murder-suicide. He watched for hours as Chet's life began to slip and discouraged Chet from seeking medical treatment once his friend found him concussed, unable to walk, and barely able to talk. Once Chet was hospitalized, this man stole his IDs, credit cards, and documents before he mutilated his own body and covered Chet's home in blood.

Chet does not yet know of the damage to his home. He is set to be released from treatment in late-January, and we would like to have his home back in order before he returns to it. He has been through enough, and we want him to be able to focus on his recovery and well-being once he's out of treatment. To make this happen, we're raising funds for the following:

$250 - Bio-hazard cleanup of home

$6,000 - Replace stolen property not covered by insurance

$2,000 - Mortgage payments

$1,000 - HOA fees

$1,000 - Car repair

Chet has dedicated his life to serving and helping others. We ask now for some help for him. Every donation, big or small, is appreciated. All funds donated beyond $10,250 will be donated to Stop Soldier Suicide and VFW Post 2461 upon completion of this campaign in recognition of their successful efforts to help save Chet following his suicide attempt and for their continued support.
