Dimitrios' European Chess Dream

Chess is the coolest mind sport and I want to become a chess champion!
I am Dimitrios Levon Zakarian, 9 years old, and I am currently one of the top junior chess players in the UK in my age category. For my commitment and outstanding performances in a number of recent tournaments I have been invited to represent England at the European Youth Chess Championships 2018 , held in Riga, Latvia, 19-30 August. However, to make it financially possible for me to participate in this event I'm looking for your support.
To tell you a bit about myself. My brother Robert taught me how to play chess when I was 3 and at the age of 5 I already won my first title of Gloucestershire Under 7 Megafinal Chess Champion. Since then I have played in numerous chess competitions in the UK and one abroad and have received many awards. I am the top junior player in Oxfordshire and board one for the Oxfordshire Junior Chess under 11 squad. In May 2018, through qualification from a series of competitive tournaments , I have also been invited to play for England’s Under 11 national team.
These are some of my recent results:
– Oxfordshire Megafinal winner from 2015 to 2018
– Southern Gigafinal winner from 2016-2017
– Top Under 9 player in 2017 Terafinal of the Delancey UK School’s Chess Challenge, the world’s largest junior chess competition
– Best Under 10 Junior in Crete International Chess Tournament Apokoronas 2017
– Third place in the Under 9 category in the British Chess Championships 2017
– Oxfordshire Under 11 champion 2017
– Oxfordshire Under 9 champion 2016
I am very passionate about chess and one of my dreams is to become a professional chess player like my namesake Grandmaster Levon Aronian. I practise chess almost every day with my dad, FIDE Master David Zakarian, and, to be honest, I do chess more than schoolwork (but don’t tell my teachers, please!).
I have gone through a rigid selection process to receive an invitation to play in the European Youth Chess Championship this year and I am very excited and motivated to do well. Unfortunately, there is not enough appreciation of chess as a professional sport in the UK and no financial support to the England Chess Federation from the government. This means that it is up to my parents to find £3,000 to cover all the expenses for this trip.
My parents and I would very much appreciate your help!
