The Tragic Story
Diana Oosterhart (my aunt but so much more than that to my heart), recently lost her battle with cancer.
Many of you beautiful folks may have been following this story. It seems it was not so long ago that she had been declared cancer free, and even found a new apartment. Just weeks later she was rediagnosed with stage four cancer and started chemo again. Unfortunately, Diana passed away last week. For those who watched the tragedy unfold, it seemed to happen so quickly, we are still reeling from our loss.
The Woman We Won't Forget
Diana was a unique person. She certainly wasn't your average girl. She made a huge impact on my life growing up. There are so many things about me that stem from the time that we spent together. Most of you who know me know I am kind of a geek. I love games and fantasy novels and dragons and wizards and.... well I digress. Much of this is because of Diana. When I was younger we read stories and we go out into the woods near my Grandma's house and we would recreate stories or make up our own. We would play characters and have long sweeping adventures. To this day I still think of her whenever I am playing a pen and paper rpg. That is what life was to her, an adventure. She didn't let reality confine her imagination, and I looked up to that. Now she is gone and many of us are left with the belief that somewhere she is having a whole new adventure.
How We Can Help
It's difficult to think about what comes next. It often seems like adding insult to injury when we are forced to face what comes next when we lose a loved one. We've had this heart-wrenching tragedy and now we have to find a way to pay for the funeral expenses. This is why we are making this campaign. After looking into expenses, the funeral home is asking for $2,800 for the cremation. This campaign is designed to help pay for that cost. The money will go to paying the funeral home (the extra is to pay the fees for the campaign).
Many of you have watched this struggle unfold, others maybe just understand what it is to be in this situation, and still others just have a heart of gold. Regardless of the category you fall in, we appreciate every penny and we hope you find your own adventures in life, just like she always did. <3
