Diana Thomas (Keller) medical fund

On January 21, Diana took an accidental overdose of prescription medication. She was very lucky to have survived the overdose, however, it subsuquently caused her to have several consecutive strokes. The strokes were extremely debilitating,  devastating to her brain. She has lost her ability to communicate well, as she cannot carry on a conversation. Parts of her memory are gone.  Most of her basic motor skills are gone. Her essence is gone...or at least lost for now. She is no longer the Diana that we all know and love.

Diana has struggled with an addiction for many years. She has fought hard. As part of her rebellion against her addiction, she became a very physically active. She worked out and was an avid runner. The woman was in amazing physical shape...but only on the outside. Her addiction was reaking havic on her inside. There are so many negative conotations that come along with the word addiction. But the fact is that addiction does not define a person. Not at all. The Diana i knew was a wonderfully doting mother, she was an athlete, she was a devout christian, she was a good friend with a very giving heart. Diana was a beautiful person, inside and out.

We are all human. We all make mistakes. Some of us have bigger demons to fight than others. I believe it is our responsibility as fellow humans to help each other out. We shouldn't judge each other. We should love and support each other. In fact, the only time we should look down in judgment of someone is the moment we are reaching down to help them up.

Diana will need long term therapy in a facility that offers extensive therapy as she will need to (basically) re-learn how to think, how to feed herself, how to speak, and regain her basic motor skills.  She has a long, difficult fight ahead of her. But, with the right treatment and help, I believe there is some hope.

She does not have any health insurance, and while her family is working on getting her medicare, that will not be enough. It certainly won't afford her the BEST of treatment or facility to help her reclaim her independance.

My hope is that in sharing her story, people will want to reach out and help her in her time of need. She deserves to get her life back. I know that if this had happened to any of her friends...even a random stranger for that matter, and she knew about it...she would've been the first person offering to help. Many of you that knew her grew up with her in a small town. The best thing about small towns is that we all stick together and are there to support each other. Please consider helping her family out with a donation. There is no amount to small. Every penny matters. It is my hope, along with her brothers, Eddie Thomas, her husband Kacey, and her beautiful kids, that community will come together in a spirit of support for Diana.
