Novel Fund

Hey all! My name is Marc  , and I am in the process of writing a novel series. One thing that the series requires is a completely new language. Unfortunately, while I'm good with making characters, I am horrible at making languages.  To this end, I have reached out to the Language Creation Society (LCS) to have one made based on my ideas for those who speak it. They recommended I hire what is known as a Conlanger (somone who makes constructed languages) to create what is known as a Full Conlang (which is shorthand for Constructed Language). This will cost roughly 300 dollars. I also require another 300 to create what is called the Orthography, the langauage's written language system (This is different from the physical alphabet, which are called scripts and typically can be expressed as type fonts.). Finally, I will require an additional 200 in order to cover any unexpected expenses in creating this new language, such as any expenses in creating a specific script (I.E. the symbols which approximate the written Klingon language). These kind of constructed langauges, writing systems, and scripts have been seen in TV shows, films, and novels such as Star Trek, Game of Thrones, and The Lord of the Rings, among others, with new examples occurring all the time in books, shows, films, and even video games.

Conlangs add a certain depth to characters from races that are different from the standard human, and also add a special something to any medium in which the appear. I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and interest in my novels this way, so while I benefit directly from having the financial ability to have these things made, I believe my readers will also benefit from the generation of any who become donors, particularly if they love to read.

The funds will be used to hire a conlanger, and paid in either two or three installments. Half likely to be paid up front and the latter upon completion, depending on who I ultimately end up working with.

I am currently in the process of seeking a conlanger to work with, and will be asking for help from the LCS in putting the word out on their job board about my needs for the book series. So for me, the sooner the better.

I would assume I need the funds in about one month's time at the earliest and two months at the latest as I still have to see who will respond to my ad on their job board, assuming anyone will respond at all, and even then there is the issue of how long the conlanger will take in producing the actual conlang materials.

I have been working on this book series for over ten years and it has gone through a number of changes until reaching its current development stage, and I would love to be able to get this first work of the series completed in the next two years. But in order to do so, I require the conlang to do it. This is an endeavor I have put my heart and soul into and would be grateful to everyone who is willing to help me make it a reality. I believe that helping people enjoy themselves is the greatest gift anyone who writes can give, and anyone who contriubtes to that is worthy of the highest praise anyone can bestow. I would also be more than willing to acknowledge my donors (by name if possible or en masse if necessary) in the first book in the series for their help, in the hopes that they will get something out of this, even if what I write isn't necessarily their preferred story.
