Odyssey of the Mind Worlds

Greetings! For the past five years, we have been involved in Odyssey of the Mind (OM), which is an international, creative problem-solving program that engages students in learning by allowing their knowledge, creativity, and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Students who participate in OM build self-confidence, develop life skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. OM proves that students can have fun while they learn. Through OM, teammates work together to brainstorm and craft a creative performance.  Every year, teams are given a select number of problem outlines to choose between. Once they choose a problem, the team works for 5 - 6 months to build their solution as a team. Our team follows guidelines, but at the same time, our performance must be completely creative and original. It must involve ideas that have to do with creativity in general.



After investing approximately 90 hours over the last 6 months our team developed a skit in which we depicted a superhero character that stopped time and defeated a creativity thief to save creativity. We competed at the OM Regional Tournament on March 18, 2017 and won first place in our division.  Last weekend, we competed against the most advanced teams throughout Maine, and won second place at the OM State Tournament.  We are one of two teams in our division who were invited to compete at the OM World Competition, which will be held at the University of Michigan from May 24 - May 27, 2017.  Our current challenge is to fundraise approximately $10,000 over the next month!




We are respectfully asking for your help in our fundraising process.  Your financial support will allow us to travel to the University of Michigan, stay in the dorms, and represent our state at the OM World Competition, where we will compete against other teams from across the country, and around the globe!  In return, we are planning to submit an article in our local newspaper, where we will acknowledge your business, and others, that are helping us make this trip possible.
