Everyone needs clean water to live. Can you imagine life without clean water? Ecole Mary Austin is a school founded in Haut St. Marc, Haiti by Rev. Jesumond Pierrilus in 1980. Through grassroots efforts it has been sustained over the 3 decades however, now we need your help!
The Haut St. Marc region has not seen rain in 3 years, an unprecedented drought. The landscape has changed drastically due to deforestation. The school kids (over 600) and the community (20,000 people) lack the basic necessity of access to water. In 1978, several natural springs were capped by Rev, Jesumond Pierrilus for the community's benefit. Now we need to pump this water to the school and to create a community fountain. Water is essential to life.
Through the ministry of Messengers In Action, Inc. a 501(c)3 ,we have worked to help the Haut St. Marc community sustain itself. As the world's eyes turned to Haiti after the January 12, 2010 Earthquake, tremendous aid descended upon the island in addition to tremendous corruption. Those who had already been established were overshadowed by the newcomers who had hidden agendas.
Corruption is nothing new for Haiti, but we will not stop in our sincere efforts to help the Haitians Help Themselves. We know the struggle, but we will not grow weary in doing good. Please check out our website for more information on the history of our work.
