‘Dex’ is from the North Central Animal Shelter in East Los Angeles. The story: Dex’s old owners surrendered him to the shelter after he got a botched hip surgery (see X-ray pics).
We adopted him for 48 hours to take him to Dr. Fiona Little at CM Surgery in South Pasadena. According to Dr. Little, Dex's 'bad' femur is 20% shorter than his 'good' femur. BUT he has overcompinsated so much that he has ruined his knee. The knee is now more of a concern than femur.
His only hope is to amputate his bad leg. By keeping it, he will live with too much pain. Dogs live really well with 3 legs!
BUT we need to raise $6,000 total for his medical bills. This includes the medical care he received in the last 24 hours, more x rays, medical boarding and post op medical boarding! NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!!!!!
He is going back to the shelter today as we have NO temporary foster for him. If we can raise additional funds he can get out of the shelter on THURSDAY!

Dex loves kids- loves teenagers especially, is good with dogs, good with men, and just wants to PLAY! He is an A+ dog!
