Samadhi Addiction Recovery Center
I want to create a Recovery Community Outreach Center in Kingston, New York that will serve ALL people suffering from addiction of all kinds and their families. As some of you know, I have been devoting all of my available time , effort and money to this project, but I am at the point in the process where we need some more help financially. I have broken out below what we need. I have been running two Refuge Recovery meetings in our community and 3 meetings in two local rehabs with great success. I want to create a place where we can host Refuge, 12 step and Smart Recovery meetings and have as many options for recovery as we can deliver. The question of what causes addiction has been gnawing at me for most of my life. When my son’s best friend died from a Heroin overdose three years ago this December, I decided that I needed to find out no matter what it took. I traveled all over this country and Canada interviewing as many experts, peers and teachers as I could find.I found these amazing centers in Vancouver and other towns in Canada that met those who were addicted where there were; not asking them to commit to anything or judging them in any way. I realized that Harold Riley (my sons best friend ), and the three young men that died shortly thereafter from heroin overdoses had no where to go to speak to someone about what they where going through. I wanted to create a space where people could come and not be judged or given ultimatums, but shown compassion and understanding. I also wanted to create a center where families could come for advice, support and healing. I pulled together the best Trauma Specialists, Recovery coaches, Meditation and Mindfulness teachers, family therapists, acupuncturists, yoga teachers and QiGong instructors to help me make this dream a reality. I have all these amazing people committed to this project! Now I need the funds to finish creating the outreach center called SAMADHI (which means coming together through concentration). Meditation and Mindfulness played such a major role in my own recovery and I want to make these practices available for everyone!

“The opposite of addiction is not sobriety; the opposite of addiction is human connection.”
This is a picture of Harold (the one circled) I met him with my son when he was 7. That was 19 years ago. I watched him grow up in our town and it breaks my heart every day. I will do whatever it takes to make this stop and help people to help themselves and create opportunities to recover.
