Designing for Change - Designing for the World

This semester I've had the opportunity to participate in a class unlike anything offered at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. It combines design thinking in a real world application - Gatunga, Kenya.

“This course follows the design thinking methods as a way for students to dive deep into a real world
project in Tharakai-Nithi Kenya. Through a human centered lens, students will follow the methods of
empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test, as a way to seek design solutions for the everyday needs of the women and girls in Gatunga and its neighboring villages.”

 
The ultimate goal of the class is to use design and design thinking to change to the world. It has  been one of the most positive and rewarding experiences of my life - to date.

I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Kenya, both to test out different prototypes and to live with and learn from the people living in Gatunga. We will be leaving December 28th; during this time we will be traveling Kenya, learning from villages around the country and becoming immersed in their culture.

Help me to reach my goal of $2,000 for travel expenses. Those who donate over $100 will recieve a gift from Kenya.
