On Monday, May 28, Desi was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI due to breathing problems.

A few hours later he was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI by an emergency helicopter.

He has been in the ICU since the 28th. He is in critical condition and is currently sedated, breathing with a ventilator and battling a number of issues including heart failure and pneumonia. He is expected to be in the ICU for the immediate future.

Desi is a self-employed contractor and we are unsure when he will be able to return to work. He is married and has two sons, ages 11 & 9.

Please consider donating for the ongoing medical care and support of his family.

We will continue to update everyone with Desi's progress.

Desi came home yesterday afternoon from the hospital! He will continue to recover at home over the next few weeks.

He worked really hard during his physical therapy this week to prove that he could function on his own.

Being home is what he wanted the most and I am glad he was able to be home on Father’s day with Jhon and Darren.

Desi is determined to get stronger and is eager to go home.

Today he was moved to the second floor of the hospital which is dedicated to Rehabilitation. Desi will be doing physical, occupational and speech therapy each day.

With help he can stand up from a chair and he has been walking down the hallways.

He is able to eat more food now but he isn’t a huge fan of the hospital food. His go to meal seems to be the fresh fruit cup and cottage cheese.

It is so nice to see him smile and laugh.

Thank you for all of your support!

Yesterday was a big day for Desi!

He no longer needs his oxygen tube or his feeding tube. He has been working on eating on his own with assistants.

Physical therapy has been working with him to get up and out of his bed. Desi was able to walk and take steps across the room as well with help from the physical therapist.

He is getting stronger each day!

Good News!!

On Thursday night at 9:00 pm the breathing tube was taken out of Desi's mouth. This was very exciting but it was also a difficult transition. To assist him with his breathing he had to wear a mask that went around his nose and mouth for some additional oxygen.

Today he was able to communicate with us which was so wonderful. He is still very tired and talking is difficult for him. The Doctor's next plan is to get him up and out of his bed. He wants Desi to be able to sit up in a chair. Once he is able to swallow he will no longer need the feeding tube and will be able to eat on his own.

Desi is truly blessed to have so many people care about him. We appreciate all of your support.
