Deron M. Thompson Legacy Fund

On June 5, 2019 the Engineer Factory, Thompson Community Enterprises LLC, but mostly the Thompson family experienced a tremendous loss with the passing of Deron Thompson.  Deron was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend and his untimely death has rocked us to the core.

But Deron was also a leader and co-founder of the Engineer Factory, a nonprofit with the mission of strengthening the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education pipeline for girls and students of color in underserved communities.  He was also a founding director of Thompson Community Enterprises LLC, a family run business dedicated to improving Inglewood, CA by producing quality STEM education materials and to helping provide STEM professional development for educators, particularly those serving low-income students.

Known as "Mr. T" to his students, Deron was the life blood of both companies.  Anyone who has ever started a business knows the founder roles are numerous--program director, instructor, logistics coordinator, transportation manager, head of ordering supplies, packing boxes, bookkeeping, janitorial and anything else that popped up!  But Deron worked hard to make the Engineer Factory and Thompson Community Enterprises the emerging successes that they are!

It would take at least 4 people to take Mr. T's place in our businesses!  Many things his wife Audrey and children Jaylen, Ariana and Ivory are doing their best to pick up.  But we need additional help!  An anonymous donor has agreed to match up to $10,000 of any funds we are able to raise by August 15th.  Will you help us by supporting  the Deron M. Thompson Legacy Fund?  Your donation will help us to bring on a part-time staff member as we ramp up for the upcoming school year.  It will also help us maintain our headquarters and continue to provide high quality STEM education services to schools in Inglewood, South LA and other communities.

Will you help meet our goal by August 15th by making a donation?  Any amount will help.  We will be sharing more about Mr. T and the work of the Engineer Factory and Thompson Community Enterprises over the next 4 weeks.  Please help us keep Deron's Legacy alive!
