Denver West Wrestling

New Coach for a well-known wrestling program that needs a burst of excitement to get that winning tradition back.  Multiple team and individual champions in the past, but have struggled recently. I plan to build on that deep history of winning, bring the team culture back to what it once was and keep it well established for years to come. The school is located in the heart of Denver and has a large number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. There was a huge turnout of athletes this season and I want to make sure these kids are well prepared and enjoy the season and sport as best they can.  The actual school is a unique type of facility, in which the building serves 3 different entities of education, along with serving the community through various language and family supports. Great community with strong and proud loyalty to the school.

We currently only have our competition mat to practice on, which has seen wear and tear over the years. Our huge turnout resulted in a lack of uniforms so we overnighted plain black singlets and headgear in order to be able to compete. Athletes wear a shirt that I was able to provide for all, and whatever other warm-ups they can come up with on their own. Funding also prevents us from traveling and staying overnight at tournaments.

Donations would be greatly accepted and would go to practice mats, throw dummies, throw pads, ropes, padded walls, and paint to update the wrestling room. Additional funds would go to supplement district funds provided for team warm-ups, championship singlets, and headgear. Any remaining funds would be earmarked for tournament fees and summer camps for the wrestlers of Denver West.
