Dental Fund for a Disabled Veteran

Hi,

My name is Jay Mogyoros, I was born in North Carolina, but raised right outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I had the average normal childhood any kid could wish for.  In 2004 I joined the United States Navy as a Yeoman, which meant I pushed papers all day long as well as being the personal Taxi driver for officers on board U.S.S NASHVILLE (LPD 13). I wanted to have a career in the military and complete 25 years then retire. All that changed when I was diagnosed with Hepatitis. I was then put on medical hold at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in early 2006 awaiting the medical board's decision. In April 2006 I was given the RE-3P re-enlistment code which means there is no chance of getting back in.  My Hepatitis is "Service Connected" but at a 0% rating from the Veterans Administration which means they acknowledge it's connected to the military but they will do nothing about it.

On Jan. 1st, 2007 my wife at the time brought a son into our lives. Sadly, she passed from a combination of Type 1 Diabetes, Addisons Disease, and Hypothyroidism. Basically, her pituitary gland she was born with gave her the lethal combo and on Dec. 23rd, 2010 she had a brain aneurysm and passed away. Thank god, even with her passing, her organs gave fresh starts to people in need and I get letters from them time to time.  That kind of sacrifice gives me hope some that read this will hear me.

Since 2011, I have had a terrible side effect to Hepatitis. My teeth have basically fallen apart day by day. I brushed them twice per day since I was a kid, but due to this disease, they have deteriorated to the point that some of my gums are starting to grow over the dead teeth. I wake up every morning in pain with my abscesses throbbing, so I have to reach for my box of Goody Powders to get any type of relief. It's not just a few, but all of my teeth are in such bad shape that I can't even smile because of the embarrassment. Any day now with my Hepatitis I could get an out of control infection that could leave my son with both his parents gone. I know what you are thinking, "Why don't I just go to the VA Hospital and have them fix my teeth?" The answer is that they will not pay for it since it is not service connected. I have tried so hard to get them to pay for it but to no avail. I am told that my dental insurance coverage was only good for 90 days after my Medical Discharge even though at that time my teeth were in perfect health.

This is my last hope. No dental insurance since I can't afford it because of my condition and I need all of my teeth pulled out just to have the pain go away. I am praying that some understand the pain and misery of a toothache, but multiply that since it's each tooth. Having Oral Surgery would mean the world to me and I don't even care about having a pair of implants. I just want to be rid of this pain. I could live with drinking food for the rest of my life as long as these teeth are cut from my mouth.

Thank you for taking the time to read

Sincerely, Jay Mogyoros
