Meet Denise, a kind-hearted, fun-loving Christian woman, who desperately needs our help. After 30 plus years of routine self-exams and annual screenings, Ms. Denise Jenkins received upsetting news that she had a rare form of inflammatory breast cancer.
As child of God, with a special gift for photography, Denise typically finds herself behind the lens focusing in on the special moments of other people’s lives. However, with the sudden onset of this illness, health complications have caused the focus to shift onto Denise.
Since this past February, Denise has been faced with the struggle of a lifetime. Beyond the physical challenges of undergoing biweekly chemotherapy treatments, Denise has been forced to deal with major changes to her life such as, sacrificing her apartment to cut expenses, limited mobility due to lack of strength, lack of appetite, weight loss, numerous surgical procedures, complete upheaval of her regular weekly routines, and now requires driving assistance due to her weakened state after receiving treatments.
Being a former foster parent and care provider, just the adjustment of being cared for by others has been mentally taxing since she has spent a good portion of her life tending to the needs of others, young and old.
Mounting medical bills only adds additional stress as she is operating on an extremely limited budget. Yet and still, Denise continues to find new ways to stretch out her resources.
Denise understands and reveres the work that goes into caring for others. Daily she thanks God for the work he is doing through her “guardian angels” who look have been shepherding over her since her diagnoses was revealed. Her church family and friends have been extremely supportive and through it all she has maintained a positive outlook with prayer and trust in God’s divine will.
