Jakey's Journey (Jacob DelPrato)
We hope to raise enough money to help the DelPrato family with medical expenses, home maintance, and other expenses associated with extensive hospital stays. The DelPratos have given so much to our community and this is our time to give back to them. Thank you for your support and donations, and please consider sharing this GoFundMe with your friends and loved ones.
Here is a video dedicated to the DelPrato family.
Thank you all! #delpratostrong
Dear Friends and Family,
My wife and I are overwhelmed by the generous donations that so many of you have made on behalf of our son. We are simply blown away. Words cannot express how grateful we are that so many of you have contributed financially to our family during this incredibly difficult time. We have a long journey ahead of us. At this time, it is difficult to predict the financial burden that we may face as we fight alongside Jacob. Your contributions help ease the financial burden of what may lie ahead for our family.
But it is so much more than that. There have been many times during this induction treatment that my wife and I sit next to Jacob, watching IV bags drip into his body. It can be a lonely spot for a family. Looking through all of the names from past and present makes us feel like we are not in this battle alone. We see the names of all the people who are in our corner, fighting with us. It makes us feel like our community is out there rooting for us, and we feel so supported. We can certainly use that positive spirit.
On to Jake, he has responded well to his first few rounds of chemotherapy. Although he gets tired easily, he seems to be tolerating the medicine fairly well. When he is in between treatments he likes to eat pizza and pontificate on potential Christmas toys. The most important piece is that a large number of his leukemic cells have been knocked out by these first rounds of chemotherapy. Obviously the goal is to get that number to zero. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts.
With overwhelming gratitude and love,
The DelPrato Family
