DEFIBRILLATOR FOR ZIGGY ❤️

Donation protected
As some of you may know, my 11 month old godson was recently diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, and subsequently meant he spent the past 9 weeks in the intensive care unit at Bristol Children’s Hospital. His condition (in short) means his heart has become over enlarged and therefore does not function as it should, which means his tiny body is under a huge amount of stress that could cause his heart to go into sudden cardiac arrest. He has also been diagnosed with arrhythmia, which means along with a poor functioning heart, it is also unable to produce a stable beat and means his chances of going into cardiac arrest are massively increased. He has been receiving medication directly to his heart whilst in hospital and is now receiving this orally and by injection from his parents.

Whilst in hospital, Sophie & Zennon went to Great Ormond Street Hospital to talk with the team about where they go from here. The team at GOSH have decided the best course of action is to try and prolong Ziggy’s own heart life for as long as they can, before visiting the option of a donor organ. The Bristol Children’s hospital have now managed to stabilise his heart enough (for the time being) to send him home with his family. Whilst this is absolutely incredible news and will give little Ziggster the quality of life he deserves, it of course does not come without considerable risk and his little heart could stop at any time. It is because of this risk, that his parents are in desperate need of a defibrillator at the family home, so that they could save his life should they need to. In order to have this life saving equipment readily available, I am on a quest to raise as much money as possible as fast as I possibly can so that his parents can purchase a defibrillator as soon as physically possible. Ziggy requires constant oral medication, injections administered by his parents and round the clock care. Whilst his heart is still stable (as stable as it can be with his condition) we NEED to get them this equipment.

Every minute that elapses when a heart has gone into sudden cardiac arrest, means a 10% decrease in survival, and with most ambulances arriving within 8 minutes, this would mean Ziggy simply wouldn’t survive. Having a defibrillator at home would mean that should Ziggy go into SCA, he would have a 70% chance survival rate if Sophie and Zennon used the defibrillator within 3 minutes and a whopping 90% chance within 1 minute of the SCA. Now I don’t know about you, but even if there was a 1% chance that this little boy could survive with this equipment I’d make sure I did everything I could to make sure he has one. So, please please donate what you can, and share share share this link as much as you can and let’s work together to get this little boy the life saving device he so desperately needs in order to remain at home, safe with his loved ones.

Lots of love Sadie ❤️

*Please note, that any extra contributions will go towards accommodation and being able to live and eat, when Ziggy is transferred to London/Newcastle when he requires a transplant.
