On June 2nd, 2018, my dear friend Matthias lost his battle with an acute myelodysplastic syndrome. Please honour his memory by helping stop this tragic disease.
Myelodysplastic syndromes are a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells. Acute forms of MDS can develop into acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The most promising therapy to date is chemotherapy with stem cell transplants. This, however, is fraught with very dangerous side effects. Learn more about MDS here .
Matthias was my dearest friend, and to honour him I'm starting this campaign to raise funds for MDS research. My first goal is to raise 1000 Euro by his birthday, 16 July. This money will go to the hospital where he was treated .
After this date I'll continue the fundraiser through Christmas, with funds going to the MDS Foundation .
Please help me reach my goals so that Matthias' passing will not be in vain, but will give hope and help to countless others! Any amount is appreciated more than I can say!
