Deborah's Breast Cancer Treatment

When I think of my sister Deborah Lea, so many distinguishing qualities flood my mind.

She is joyful, loving, kind, peaceful, gracious, warmhearted, optimistic, funny, intelligent, witty, thoughtful, giving  and a person you're drawn to for her ability to help. She is a creative interior designer, and amazing clothing designer, world traveler, and a natural empath. Deborah became a licensed massage therapist in hopes to help people manage chronic illness, acute illness and injury recovery. In addition she has also been a licensed esthetician promoting healing of various skin conditions, through natural remedies and regimens. Her life and work has been to help her clients and their quality of life. She is a loving caring daughter always there to help our elderly parents. My loving sister, best friend, and amazing Auntie to my children, loyal partner, a ride or die friend, just the most amazing woman you could be blessed with on this earth. I have spent many moments feeling intense gratitude to have her as a constant in my life and my children's lives. She is a built in best friend, from the beginning, a sister to share all special memories and experiences with growing up. In a million years the words "39 year old breast cancer patient" would have never entered my mind.

YET HERE WE ARE!

A week before Thanksgiving 2018 Deborah Lea Inmon Castolenia was diagnosed with breast cancer. At a routine GYN exam her doctor discovered a lump in her breast. She was advised to have further testing immediately. The tests began within a few days. First a mammogram, then an MRI, mammogram, ultrasound and then an ultrasound guided biopsy. Naturally the tension and anxiety grew while waiting for the results. Deborah Lea thought back to a deadly accident where she was hit head on, her body was smashed up against the steering wheel impacting her vital organs, breasts, and female anatomy. She was put on a stretcher and EMS had to revive her and took her to the ER. She was treated for cervical damage and tissue damage and went into recovery with a physical therapist and massage therapist to help healing. The Doctor told her there could be complications as a result later. In these moments waiting for her biopsy test results anxious and depressed, she thought back to that fatal day wondering if this was a result from the tissue damage caused by the impact on her breasts to the steering wheel.

Finally on Tuesday November 13th, right before the Thanksgiving holiday the Doctor called to say that the biopsy test results were positive. The news was devastating and shocking, incomprehensible. She returned to her Doctor, she listened intently and wrote down the information about what to do next. She called me on the phone, since she lives in Austin and I in Kerrville (Texas). After many tears, calls were made to schedule the proper appointments. At this time, it was the beginning of the Christmas season a time for family and friends and JOY! Instead during the next two weeks Deborah had genetic blood testing, met with 3 breast surgeons, 2 oncologists, a radiologist,  a fertility specialist, had an MRI, mammogram and ultrasound and many blood tests. Various cancer treatment plans, radiation, chemo therapy, and surgical options were discussed. Hundreds of questions and phone conversations continue to take place. The decisions that Deborah has to make are both complicated and mentally and physically challenging. They will affect her for the rest of her life. Trying to stay present and positive has been nearly impossible at times, but she is determined and resourceful. She has loving friends and family to share this journey with and with their help she is researching many areas of holistic healing to accompany the medical treatment including  a close regimen with holistic doctors, biomagnetic therapy, cleaner eating and continued yoga, prayer and meditation. She is an amazing spirit woman and she will be cured.

At this time plans for logistics, medical leave options, and financial responsibilities are being considered. There is still so much unknown that lies ahead and the weight of it all is exhausting and overwhelming.

Deborah needs help immediately to keep her treatments going.

Seeing her go through this and knowing after the long fight she'll be recovering in an accumulation of bills. I wanted to give everyone who wants to help an opportunity to do so. Deborah has spent her life bringing joy to those around her. We can return the love and light that she has given others and make her burden a little lighter by donating any amount you can afford toward her treatment and medical bills. Thank you so very much. Your support will offer her the peace of mind needed to focus all of her energy and thoughts on healing during and after her treatments and surgeries.
