Nick is 31 years old. He's a young, vibrant, passionate lover of life kind of guy who would do ANYTHING for anyone.

He was first told that he had testicular cancer on the 14/02/19. What first started as a general check up at his local GP quickly turned into a series of scans and tests and ended with being admitted into hospital for emergency surgery to have the cancerous tumour removed all within 24 hours. Surgery went well but unfortunately the CT scans and blood tests taken the next day indicated that the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes in his abdominal area. Due to the severity of the spread he was told that he would need chemotherapy. He started the chemotherapy treatment two weeks later, on the 4/03/19 and has since received 3 full cycles of chemotherapy treatment.

On the 06/05/19 the third cycle of chemotherapy treatment was completed however the test results indicted that although he had received a maximum dosage of chemotherapy, it has not been completely successful and major surgery is now required in order to remove the remaining tumour. The RPLND surgery is a massive operation that not only has a huge recovery time but also has a lot of possible complications that may affect the rest of his life. It is now believed that Nick may not be well enough to work again until the New Year.

Nick and Steph his Partner, have had to move back in with Steph's family due to Nick no longer being able to work, leaving them with one income and adding a lot more financial stress. Steph currently spends long hours at the hospital supporting Nick through his treatment and then continues to work full time hours hairdressing. This is why we are all stepping in to raise some funds to help alleviate some of the financial stress that comes with a serious health challenge like cancer.

We would be so appreciative if everyone could dig deep and help our amazing Nick and his family through this time.

Thank you so much and positive vibes all around to get him through.

Quick update – On the 06/05/19 I completed my third cycle of chemotherapy. My cancer markers from my blood tests showed they were back in the normal range from high. Unfortunately tho it has not been enough. My CT scans indicated that the tumour, although it had shrunk is still a dangerous size. The specialists have explained that the next step is major abdominal surgery.

The procedure is called an RPLND operation. I’ve been told that basically a huge cut is made from my chest to groin, my internal organs are then removed so the surgeons can access the back of my abdomen where they will then remove my entire retroperitoneal lymph node system. They then return all my internal organs before stitching me back together. The surgery is obviously massive and not only comes with a heap of complications, some of which are life threatening but the recovery time afterwards is huge.

A date for surgery hasn’t been set yet but I’ve been told that it will be around the end of this month or mid June. There is also the possibility that I might have to receive another cycle of chemo before the surgery if my cancer markers start to increase again, which of course would push surgery back another two months or so.

I’m devastated at the news but I’m doing my best to stay positive. I’ve had some time to process everything and I’m of the mindset now where I want to just get on with the surgery. The sooner it happens the sooner I can work at getting my health back and ultimately my life back.

As much as I wanted to update all of you, I really wanted to just say Thank You!!! I don’t have the words to begin to express my gratitude!! I can’t believe the generosity of all of you and I simply don’t know what to say. As much as this cancer has been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with, it has also helped to bring me such an immense appreciation for all the amazing people in my life!! I can’t believe how blessed I am. I truly have so much to be thankful for!!

I can’t wait till I can update you all on my successful surgery!!!

All my love!! Nick xx
