Emily Lincoln is a kind, generous soul and her zest for life is infectious. As many of you know, Emily has been battling a rare type of cancer that is ever present in her body. She has been a dedicated love warrior for herself these last 12 years, changing her lifestyle and diet dramatically to fully support her healing process.
In spite of all her efforts, the radiation she received that helped save her life has also caused major damage to her throat and vocal cords. This impacts her ability to breathe, speak and swallow normally every single day. Though you might not know it because she barely ever complains about it! So far, she has had two vocal cord cordotomy surgeries that help give her relief with her breathing. Unfortunately, her body is very quick to heal and the relief is short lived and the recovery is grueling. Due to increasing medical complexities in her case, she has had to take a medical leave of absence from her beloved job at South Shore Charter Public School (SSCPS).
The doctors would like her to have a tracheotomy as it would fix a few of the issues, but it would have an enormous negative impact on her quality of life. She would no longer be able to shower, swim or eat normally again. Emily thinks that at 44, she is much too young to go down that path and is willing to keep up with extensive healing protocols to keep her cancer at bay and support her insatiable lust for life.
These extra treatments and supplements that have helped keep her cancer from becoming more widespread are not covered by insurance. Combined with her medical leave of absence from SSCPS these healing modalities are in jeopardy! Please consider giving what you can to help keep Emily on the path of healing and ease the burden of unexpectedly becoming a one income household for the time being.
