Help Kerala flood victims

Dear friends & colleagues,
Over the last couple of weeks, Kerala, my home state in India, was hit with devastating rainfall and floods. The monsoon rains that has continued for nearly a month caused landslides, mudslides and major property damage. Thousands have lost their home and everything they have and are now dependent on donations and relief supplies. Many of my friends are directly affected, and for the first time in their life, they moved out of their home to avoid danger.
Being hit with worst monsoon season in over a hundred years, the floods have taken more than 400 lives, displaced 1 Million people to 5000+ relief camps, destroyed infrastructure setting Kerala back at least 20 years; the rains have started to stop but it is a long road for recovery. There are unofficial reports that the state suffers a loss of approximately $3.5 billion.

FYI: Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund is an emergency assistance release mechanism granting immediate relief to families and individuals distressed by calamity, loss of life due to accidents and chronic diseases. It is the official way to help victims of the Kerala floods. The donations are exempted from income tax as well as Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010.

Wie groß ist der Schaden?
Mehr als 324 Menschen sind gestorben | 220.000 Menschen sind obdachlos geblieben | 34/39 Dämme wurden geöffnet | 10.000 km von Kerala Straßen wurden zerstört | Die größte Stadt Kochi und ihr internationaler Flughafen ist unter dem Wasser | 13/14 Bezirke sind in Alarmbereitschaft.
Die größte Herausforderung besteht nach wie vor darin, Probleme nach der Flut und die Ausbreitung von Krankheiten zu bewältigen.
Wir bitten Sie um einen Beitrag zwischen 2 Euro und 20 Euro (oder mehr). Ihr Beitrag kann einen großen Unterschied machen.

Es ist der offizielle Weg, den Opfern der Überschwemmungen in Kerala zu helfen. Die Spenden sind von der Einkommenssteuer sowie von der Verordnung über die ausländische Beitragsregulierung 2010 befreit.
