Noel’s Recovery Fund

On July 6th, 2019, Noel was in a horrific accident that has changed his life forever. That Saturday morning, Noel climbed a ladder to clean up the gutters and tragically fell directly into the pavement, injuring his neck severely. The result of this horrific event has left Noel with a deficit on his cervical spine affecting his C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae and disks. At that moment, Noel was paralyzed from the neck down.
The accident occurred while he was alone, however, he managed to call 911 before passing completely out. Unfortunately, paramedics did not take his cell phone, so he spent more than 10 hours alone at the ER, immobilized without the ability to remember anyone’s phone number or speak well. At some point, a very kind nurse helped him by searching in the internet for the name of a few business owners he remembered.
Noel underwent two major surgeries and spent almost three weeks at the Atlanta Medical Center (a trauma center) without eating anything by mouth, due to his neck injuries. Once he was able to eat and speak better, he was transferred to the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center that specializes in spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation. With the help of your prayers, our hope is for Noel to be strong enough to undergo this spinal rehabilitation where he will begin the journey of discovering a new normal.
We are grateful and blessed that he is still here with us! Please continue to keep him in your prayers and support our fundraising efforts to cover the enormous expenses that he along with his family will incur in the coming months. These costs include helping him navigate his life in a specialized wheelchair, medical expenses, travel expenses, medicine, regular house bills, etc. While we don’t know the full cost of what Noel is going to need yet, we know that he is going to need his house modified along with specialized equipment for simple day to day activities.
Noel is part of a large family; however, they live in Panama City, Panama. At the time of the accident, Noel was a very active citizen. He was a full time employee, a church leader encouraging and enabling individuals and groups at his Church to be better that they are today, he delivered food to the less fortunate on a weekly basis, and he still had time to be an amazing son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We are a close knit family and will continue to rally every day to support him through this challenging time. He has helped so many and now it is time for us to help him.

Como resultado de esta caída, Noel quedó con una grave lesión en la columna vertebral, específicamente, las vertebras cervicales C4, C5 y C6 junto con sus raíces nerviosas sensoriales y discos, dejándolo, paralizado del cuello para abajo.
El accidente ocurrió mientras Noel estaba solo, sin embargo, logró llamar al 911 antes de perder el conocimiento y desmayarse. Desafortunadamente, los paramédicos no agarraron su teléfono celular, por lo que pasó más de 10 horas solo en la sala de emergencias, inmovilizado sin la capacidad de recordar el número de teléfono de algunos de sus conocidos o poder hablar bien.
