Our campaign aims to help not-so-little high school students from Lee and Collier County's to join their peers around the nation who will be marching against gun violence on March 24 in Washington, D.C.
Justice For All People of Southwest Florida Inc, a Fort Myers 501c3 non-profit, is raising funds to take 65 students and chaperones to the seat of our nation’s government to join the march so they can experience what it means to participate in a quest for change.
Fort Myers became a national poster child of gun violence in 2016 when two teens were killed and 16 others were injured in a mass shooting as a teen party going on at Club Blu. It was our county’s fifth mass shooting of the year, and the violence continues today.
This March For Our Lives Rally is planned by the student survivors of the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida, the D.C. the march aims to convince politicians from President Trump to members of Congress to take action on sensible gun laws. An estimated 500,000 people are expected to attend.
Rather than cower in apathy and fear, we want to empower our poorest young people to participate in our democracy. To give them a voice and connect them with others student advocates around the country who share their concerns, so they know they are not alone.
Who are we? Justice For All People of Southwest Florida inc, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to overcoming social and economic barriers to equality in Southwest Florida. Our founder Willie B. Green is a former NAACP chapter president who helped de-segregate Lee County schools, a victory that took until the mid-1990s to achieve.
We hope to raise $18,000 to pay for the bus, hotel and food for the weekend in D.C.
Our local media and USA Today will be covering the march and our local students journey to our nations capital.. Please help us help our leaders of the future engage in a democratic process.
