Bike Packing 750 Miles For Charity

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Shane Davis. I live in Chesterfield with my wife Charlotte and four of my kids.
I'm raising 10 grand by bikepacking 750 miles for 4 charities, on 2nd July 2017.
I recently fell ill at the wheel and ended up pulling over on the motorway in Bristol. I thought I was having a heart attack. 2 police cars, 2 rapid response paramedics and an ambulance ended up closing the motorway to rescue me from laying on my back on the hard shoulder. I was rushed to Southmead ICU in Bristol. Luckily about the only hospital in Britain that could deal with my condition, that turned out to be pancreatitis, along with pericarditis (swelling of the heart lining).
2 days later I was in a coma. I was brought out of the coma after a month and and stayed in intensive care for a further month before being transferred to Sheffield hospital where I stayed for 2 weeks.
I was on full life support and every organ in my body had shut down. I had the defibrilator shock treatment 3 times to stop my heart and restart it again. Most of my pancreas is dead now, and still inside of my body as it is too risky for infections, to remove.
The doctors said it will be 3 months before I walk again. Eat, talk, even write again! I was walking, well shuffling, in 3 weeks. I take around 700 tablets a month, suffer from PTSD, and still have sleepless nights from the traumatic experience I went through.
I have this overwhelming feeling that I owe my life to the doctors and nurses that saved my life. How on earth do you repay that debt?
I've started training for a mammoth 750 mile bikepacking ride, and I have decided to give 25% of what I raise to Southmead ICU to help enhance the close relative overnight suite., and 25% each to the three remaining charities.
Chesterfield FC Community Trust is a wonderful charity that continually gives to the local community. The third charity is a trust set up by some friends who lost heir daughter to cancer after being born with it. They run relentlessly to the hospice with van loads of nappies and gifts at Christmas. The final charity is Therapeutic Hooves. They do a wonderful job, enhancing the lives of disabled children and adults by enabling them to ride horses, pet them and generaly helping out around the stables. The look of joy on some of these guys faces, melts your heart!
By helping me to raise this mammoth amount, 1000's of lives will be made happier, easier and more enhanced. You will be spurring me on to do the unrelentless ride of 750 miles from Chesterfield, up and around Scotland and back again. I'll be sleeping under the stars, or rain clouds, and cycling as much as possible off road. You will be able to track my ride during the event, via a GPS beacon I'll be carrying.
Please dig deep. Raid your penny jar! Donate smaller amounts every week or month. Help me to smash the £10000 target!

I'll be leaving Chesterfield FC's Proact Stadium at midday Sunday 2nd July 2017.
Please visit my website www.davis750.jimdo.com I'm looking for corporate sponsors too, to help fund the cost of the equipment I'll need. There are 3 packages available, so if you can help, don't be shy! Also, give my facebook page a like too: www.facebook.com/davis750 and feel free to share it! The more publicity the better!

Thank you for your support, and for helping to enhance the life of others!
Shane.
