David's medical emergency & rehab

David and Sarah do not know that I am doing this, but I wanted to do something that I thought would help them out, so here it goes: My brother scared the crap out of his entire family when his wife rushed him to the emergency room with what we thought was a severe case of vertigo. Turns out he had a stroke on the cerebellum of his brain, the vein leading from the vertebral artery was pulling from his brain, where blood pooled and caused a clot. (Apparently he could not wait for the next holiday to see us all again, I agree, it was extreme). He finally got the helicopter ride (that he always wanted but barely remembers) to Loma Linda University Medical Center the same day and spent time in the neuro ICU where he had extensive testing, including a speech therapist to make sure that it would be safe for him to eat again, and when he was stable enough to try and get on his feet, he had his second scare, it was apparent that he was having trouble controlling his limbs. But because my brother is a champion, he was moved out of the ICU and to the neuro unit, where he got out of bed, and walked about 50ft with a walker and now has been transferred to an in patient physical therapy facility (again champion). Although he is doing absolutely amazing, he is not out of the woods yet. He is still within the period where the risk of having another stroke is the highest. So while at the in patient physical therapy facility is going to be monitoring him closely, they are going to be working hard (four-45 minute sessions a day) teaching him how to balance again, as well as some day to day things we all take for granted. Then he will hopefully be transferred to an outpatient facility near home. Where his hard work will continue for possibly weeks before he can return to work. They have been surrounded by extremely loving and caring people that have dropped everything at a moments notice to help in anyway possible, but I wanted to make this account to possibly offset the financial burden they are now facing. I want to say im not just asking for monetary donations, prayers and sharing this page will help immensely as well. Your donation would be going towards copays that have accrued, and remain to build up during his hospital stay, help his lovely wife commute to be here with him while he is pushing though his physical therapy as well as traveling home to take care kids, the house and work, the lost wages from both David and Sarah, and help support his beautiful family in Ridgecrest with family and friends, which I'm sure will give David some peace of mind that things are taken care of, while he is hiking one of the biggest mountains of his life, and Sarah peace of mind while she is here beside him supporting him.
