Let's help David reclaim his life!

Donation protected
Hello everyone!
We’re here to help our friend David move into the next stage of his recovery from Lyme Disease and give him the stability he needs to overcome the devastating impact Lyme has had on his life and career.
David has come so far already, and although his battle is not completely over, he is ready (and excited!) for the next chapter.
But he needs our help!

If you can take a minute to watch his video, David shows you what an amazing career he was building and how he is trying to reclaim his life from Lyme disease.

What we ask:
David is finally able to start working some, but because his savings were totally depleted he has no financial base at all to get the ball rolling.

David needs enough money to relocate to San Diego where he has a support system of extended family and secure an apartment from which he can begin to teach again. David describes his plan in more detail farther down this page..
Currently, state assistance covers most of his food and his family helps take care of other basic expenses; medical, car insurance, gas, phone bill… soap.
The road to recovery has been erratic, unpredictable, and arduous; and most of it was completed without insurance. The financial toll this took was huge, and his requests for disability assistance were repeatedly denied.
He has been fighting an uphill battle and surviving without a home or ability to earn money.

Any amount helps, and if you are unable to give we would like to thank you immensely for your emotional support and for spreading the word about this campaign to your friends, colleagues, and family.

Who we are:
My name is Cori. I’m writing to you with David and our friends Tia and Duane. The four of us have a friendship that is a second family and a home away from home. We’re committed to helping David move forward and rebuild his life. He is doing everything he can to take control of his situation and live a full life in spite of his illness.
With our help and yours, he can.

*       David describes the plan in his own words:

Hi, everyone, this is David.
(Please bear with me as I’m still struggling with my ability to write)

My plan is to move down to San Diego to finish my physical-rehab and get my career back on track.
The fundraiser’s goal is to help me start that process.

Why San Diego?
It breaks my heart to leave Los Angeles, but San Diego has everything I need right now. Getting better in L.A. simply isn’t feasible anymore. It just has too many challenges for me.
I need to be in a place where I’ll have more stability.
San Diego is my second home, so it’s a safe and familiar environment. I have an amazing support system there with Duane, Tia, and Cori (which will be a huge part of my emotional recovery).
I have access to doctors/specialists for the health stuff, and dance connections to help get my career going again. Also, San Diego is close enough to Los Angeles that as my health improves and my business grows I can slowly and comfortably start expanding my work back into L.A..

Step one will be getting myself a place to live.
With your help, I could have stability! A real, actual, honest-to-god, permanent place to live! I cannot express how much I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again. Not having a home is horrible and terrifying so it’s the first thing this fundraiser will remedy. And by getting an apartment I can teach out of, I’ll have a place to begin working again.

Step two is just getting all my stuff out of storage and hauling it down there; and after that, I can start getting my life in order. With a stabile home and teaching space I can begin the process of finding clients while at the same time setting myself up with local doctors and public services. I'm guessing it'll be about 6 months from the time I get a place to live to when I’ll be able to consistently earn money, so some of the funds raised will serve as a safety-buffer.

I want this soooo bad! I have been fighting and fighting for years not to give up or give in. I have been fighting for THIS; for the day I’d finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Everyone has been so supportive and encouraging over the years and I want you to know that all these recent hardships have only reinforced my desire to give back to the world because of the outrageous generosity I have been shown- often from people I barely knew. The world has given me so much and I want to give back to them. Up until getting Lyme disease I’ve never been in a position where I was that helpless. So now that I’m able to start working again, I want to get started as soon as possible!

Thank you so much for any amount you can give, or any help you might be able to offer by sharing my story. THANK YOU!!!
