David Morrill Memorial Fund
I am speaking as the former wife of David. It’s an odd place to be almost 10 years post the end of our relationship to help raise funds to lay him to rest. I’m here as a friend, as a person who knows despite the struggles he had in past 10 years he is owed a peaceful place to rest next to his parents Joe and Janice. Please help us give that to him.
The purpose of this fund is to raise enough money to pay for any expense related to his death. To cover the cost of his cremation and buy a simple gravestone. We would like to also cover the cost of helping his beloved dog Jasmine to her resting place. She’s almost 16 years old now and in declining health. He wasn’t able to let her go and as an act of mercy we’d like to give her a peaceful journey too. In some ways we know that he’s waiting for her. (Please note, that on Friday March 17th, with a private direct donation, Jasmine's fees for Veternarian Services were covered. She was well cared for by the loving supportive staff at Westminster Animal Hospital where she had been a patient since being adopted through the Windham County Humane Society years earlier.).
All funds donated will be managed by "Diana St. Amand" in the name of David's Family: The Morrill's of Newfane, VT. Any money left after we cover these expenses will be donated in his memory and Jasmine’s to the Windham County Humane Society. Jasmine was a rescue from there and David’s love of his dog knew no bounds. We feel this is a fitting tribute.
The Morrill family and Dot, sincerely appreciate your kind words, thoughts and prayers during this time.
Somewhere in heaven there’s a patch of woods with steep trails and a mud hole that David is driving through. The sound of his favorite music fills the cab of his truck as his arm dangles out the side and he lets out a soft sigh and a smile because he’s now at peace.
We want to take the opportunity to communicate the purpose of this Memorial Fund and to answer some questions that have arisen about it's purpose and how money is handled. Now that we've reached our goal there are specific steps that will be taken.
The purpose of the Memorial Fund was to raise enough money to cover the costs incurred as part of David's passing including: Cremation, Cemetery Stone, Jasmine's Care (Vet services including medical fees and cremation services) and anything left over to be donated in David and Jasmine's name to the Windham County Humane Society where Jasmine was adopted from. You might have noticed that we adjusted the goal down multiple times. As we received quotes, received private direct donations, we adjusted to "only" ask for support for the amount that was actually needed.
Go Fund Me was chosen as the means to collect financial support for the following reasons: It is secure so banking information is protected; it is an approved and legal means to raise money; it requires specific guidelines to be followed to ensure money is appropriately collected and disseminated.
The next steps now that we've reached our goal is to pay the costs incurred. This will be done by the withdraw of money and issuing of certified bank checks to the specific parties for their services. With each payment a copy of the certified check, statement of services will be archived by the Morrill Family and myself, Diana St. Amand. This ensures all legal obligations are met and if requested, we can provide specific documentation. This is standard practice of a Go Fund Me and ensures that your financial support was used appropriately.
If you have any further questions, you know how to reach us. Thank YOU again for your support. You have made the burden just a little bit lighter and it is greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU for your support in this Go Fund Me for David, the goal has been reached! We could not have done it without your support, sharing and telling David's story. YOU are part of bringing peace to him and we can't thank you enough.
Wanted to let you know that Jasmine made her peaceful journey to David yesterday with Dot and Deb by her side.
Thank you all for your continued support helping us reach our goal to cover the cremation and stone.
