David Gretkowski's Medical Fund

The Gretkowski's are so grateful for the amazing outpouring of love and support; they are frequently asked "how can we help?"

On March 10, 2017 David was diagnosed with an inoperable Glioblastoma and in a moment's notice our family's life was forever changed. Anyone who has ever interacted with David knows how positive, kind-hearted, giving, gregarious with a great sense of humor and overall a loving person he is. As his loving wife and best friend for over 17 years I have been incredibly blessed to witness this first hand.

David is committed to battle this terrible disease, as he says "this is my full time job" and I will be right next to him and of course Sawyer our labradoodle. We make a great team and together will attack each day head on! David and I made a promise to each other not to be sad, rather cherish every moment just as we always have! We recognize how fortunate we are to have such an amazing support system spanning far and near; family, friends, neighbors, co-workers - past and present, and David's medical team.

David's treatments started this week, he had completed his fourth day of radiation and chemo, and this will last for six weeks (26 more treatments). David's doctors are amazing and exceptionally caring which we have quickly realized is very important.  Several days leading up to David's scheduled "standard of care" treatment at UVM we received second, third and fourth opinions from clinics across the country. We talked with top Neurosurgeons, Neuro Oncologists, Radiation Oncologist, and medical device companies to ensure David will receive the best possible care. After David's initial treatment is completed we will still diligently work with UVM, Duke, Cleveland Clinic, Dana Faber, and Mass General (to name a couple) about upcoming clinical trials for David.

The uncertainty is overwhelming and David understands he has a long road ahead; David's determination is nothing short of remarkable. Just as I think I could not be more proud or possibly love David anymore than I do right in this very moment, I am quickly reminded I do in the very next moment.

Please hug someone you love just a little bit tighter today and please keep our family in your prayers and thoughts.

Much love from,

David, Stefanie and Sawyer Gretkowski
