Dave & Marcia's Recovery Fund

Dave and Marcia Adams are two good friends of mine who have had quite a bit to handle over the last few months. Marcia learned that she has polycystic kidney disease ( a disease that runs in her family) and  had a kidney transplant on April 15. Near the time of the kidney surgery, Marcia's husband learned that he has melanoma- not the kind of news a person ever wants to receive, but especially not while helping his spouse to gain good health for her kidney surgery! Now that Marcia is a couple weeks "post-op, " it is Dave's turn to undergo  surgery to remove the melanoma on his neck. Through all of this turmoil, I have been amazed at  Dave and Marcia's courage and love for each other. Dave stoicly told me that whatever was to come, he would deal with it; but he was determined to get Marcia squared away first! Soon the two of them will be home recovering together, and I am hoping we can help the Adams family with this fund. 

Marcia and Dave have been to so many doctors' appointments  for a couple months already; and they will both be off work even longer as they recover from their respective surgeries. Marcia has to spend at least 12 more weeks home while she gains strength and builds her immune system; and she was already off work before surgery trying to beat an infection in order to receive her new kidney. Dave has been with Marcia throughout all of this; and soon he will begin his own recovery .  It's hard enough to deal with one person in a family not able to work, but two? Can we give the Adams family a hand in paying some of their bills until they are ready to go back to work?  Wouldn't that be awesome?

I'll tell you how special these folks are to me. . When this sweet little lady and new grandma told me that she needed a kidney, it was unacceptable for me to imagine anything bad happening to her! About a year later and after many tests to see if we were a match, I was able to donate my kidney to  Marcia.  We are now recovering a few miles apart from each other; and my right kidney is happily residing in its new home.  The Adams family and my family are forever linked, and we all feel so blessed. :)
