Dave Jackson Recovery

On May 5th, coincidentally on his birthday, Dave Jackson drove up to Black Lake Michigan to attend the annual Ford UAW Joint Programs Safety Conference. In the evening hours he experienced severe pain in his abdomen and was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital in Northern Michigan. Dave has had two surgeries and is going in for a third surgery to repair a ruptured colon. He is medically sedated and on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit.
The hospital is over 7 hours away and he is not yet stable enough to be transported to a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The family would like to transport him to the Cleveland Clinic as soon as he is able to be moved. At this time, it is unknown what the costs of transport will be and how much if any insurance will cover.
His wife, Cathy, is on unpaid leave from her job and is caring for Dave 400 miles away from home. Their daughters also traveled long distances to be by his side. The family has accrued many expenses like airfare, hotel stays, pet care, as well as additional unexpected costs that are not covered by health insurance.
Dave is a great husband, father, and friend. He is very involved and donated many hours to the Boy Scouts of America. Also, he spent time taking photos for the Elyria High School Band. He has worked tirelessly over the past 28 years at Ford Motor Company and is currently a Sr. Safety Engineer at the Cleveland Engine Plant. Dave is best known for bringing joy to children over the holidays as Santa Claus.
The family appreciates all the continued love, support, and prayers over the last week and moving forward. Please help Dave and his family during his difficult road to recovery. The family is grateful for any and all donations no matter the amount.
