Dave Campbell Cancer Fight

Donation protected
In August 2016, Dave received the news nobody wants to hear - "It's cancer." He was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer). He had several surgeries to remove tumors and was able to continue to work and spend time with family and friends.

In late 2017, scans showed the cancer had metastasized and doctors found new tumors and bone lesions. He was accepted into a clinical trial and started immunotherapy.

Scans in August 2018 showed the medications were working. Tumors had shrunk and the cancer was "dead." All seemed to be looking on the up for about a year.

All of that changed during the fall of 2019.  The cancer started growing again and another medication was added to boost Dave's immune system. Dave then was experiencing excruciating back pain due to a non-related issue. After almost a month of physical therapy, routine CT scans were done, showing additional tumors and innumerable bone lesions, leading to his admission into Georgetown Hospital in early December. They found that one of the new tumors was placing pressure on his spinal cord and there were non-cancer related issues with his gall bladder. Surgeries and radiation were routine over his multi-week stay.

He was released from the hospital on New Years Eve, but that was short-lived, as Dave was back in the hospital about a week later. Dave received cyberknife treatments, received PT/OT services, etc. He was transitioned to a rehabilitation center on January 30th.

Dave was finally released after nearly a month in hospital/rehab. They stayed with Peri and her family in Virginia for a few weeks, but moved back home to Maryland on March 1st.

Since moving home, Dave has started a new medication, received additional radiation and cyberknife treatments, and temporary medications were added to reduce potential side effects from the treatment. Everything was taking its toll on Dave's energy.

As of April 20th, the cancer has continued to progress and Dave has had greatly reduced energy and is unable to do much without assistance. A home health professional is scheduled to come to the house to monitor vitals and provide more information to his doctors since most of his visits are now via Telehealth due to COVID-19.

Due to Dave's medical needs, the family has had to close their business and Kathleen has added full-time caregiver to her plate, which means both are unable to work. Although the immediate family is doing as much as they can, the needs become greater and greater. This is where we are asking for your help.

As the cancer progresses, the financial need increases. Along with their regular bills, the medical bills continue to climb. Medications, medical supplies, and everyday items are constantly in demand.

Please consider donating to help our family support Dave while he continues to fight for his life against cancer. Any amount is welcomed.
