Darius Hawthorne's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
As some of you may know our dear friend Darius Hawthorne suffered not one, but two heart attacks in one week.

Background:

On Tuesday May 2, 2017, Darius Hawthorne was preparing for a phone interview with a recruiter to discuss an employment opportunity. Prior to January 2017 Darius was a gainfully employed Account Manager; happily working for a company 6 years. Unfortunately, due to restructuring, and an impending bankruptcy, Darius was laid off from his client focused position. With this lay off he lost his income and medical benefits.

On that Tuesday morning, 30 minutes before his interview, Darius’ life was changed dramatically.  He was on the telephone with his sisters and he began to say the words “Pray” and “Help”.  Immediately one of his sisters drove over to the house and what she found was her brother on the floor suffering from a heart attack.  The paramedics quickly rushed him to the hospital and they discovered he had 100% blockage in one of his arteries.  The next day, Darius had a second heart attack, this time the doctors were able to insert a stint; however, they said he would be on some medications for the rest of his life. Darius has been healthy, and very active most of his adult life so this life emergency came as a huge shock and it could not have come at a more inconvenient time.

Treatment Needed:

After spending 5 days in the ICU at Texas Presbyterian hospital Darius was finally released into his family’s care to begin his recovery. His doctors stated that he will require specific medications, and several follow up treatments up to a year.

How Will Funds Help?

Darius and his wife Chandra currently do not have medical insurance to offset the cost of the unexpected medical bills.  His family has been known largely for their legacy of giving to the community, and throughout the country. The medical bills from surgeries, medications and doctor’s visits will be extensive and quite a load to bare. As friends and family we can all come together and help provide some relief by softening this economic hardship, so that Darius and his wife can focus on his rest, recuperation and recovery efforts.

We are asking for your help in offsetting some of his cost so Darius can heal and return back to his life.  May God bless you in advance for your prayers, kindness, and generosity.
