Hi, My name is Dany. I'm a young handmade paper craftsman from Vilcabamba-Ecuador in South America.
I work at my rustic and small shop making paper from raw and natural fibers from this region. My paper is low enviromental impact since I avoid using any class of bleach in the process, I also depend of the sun and the wind for my sheets to dry. I'm always experimenting with the textures, colors and patterns of the paper to create interesting lighting and other pieces.

But this year I had a problem, an atmospheric phenomenon call  "El niño" took place in this part of the world and the rainy season was really harsh on us, as result I couldn't get my paper to dry for more than six weeks. I realize that in order for me to continue making this excepcional and unique product I need to improve my workshop before another rainy season arrives.

Here is something I wrote a few months ago about my unique paper:

Each sheet of traditional handmade paper has been made with love for the land and the Earth we inhabit.
Each sheet is different, they keep the vibration of the raw organic materials and the joy of producing them myself.
The colors, are the colors of the land, the surfaces make an impact by touch, and the textures invade all the senses.
This paper is alive, just like you and me. It breathes and feels!

The first time I was introduce to the art of traditional paper making I was 14 years old. Since then I grew on my craft and by doing it so I started a journey of continuous learning and self-discover.
The surface of every paper talks to others about myself in ways that written or spoken language cannot describe or share.
Paper is about culture, traditional paper making is a way to preserve the history of craftsmen and women that dedicated their lives to the manufacture of this silent and irreplaceable element of the human civilization.
