Daniele's spirit could move mountains. Her smile was inspiring and her heart was ever loving. Daniele was born in Brazil, but she followed her stars to Hawaii where we first met. It truly was love at first sight. We together for only 4 years, but those 4 years are filled with a lifetime of love and memories. We were only apart from each other for 4 days. We were complete together and could laugh all day. Daniele was the most amazing wife. She was the most selfless and compassionate person I've ever met. Her happiness was my happiness. She made me feel loved, respected and appreciated every single day. She would have done anything for me.
On Feb 19th, Daniele was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Daniele spent 43 days at Mass General Hospital for initial treatment. I spent every day with her to comfort her and keep her strong. It was a struggle for her and I promised her I would help take away her fears. On Tuesday, 4/10/18, Daniele suffered a severe trauma in her lung caused by an infection she developed due to her weakened immune system. She went into cardiac arrest and suffered severe brain damage. On Saturday, 4/15/18, Daniele lost her battle with Leukemia. I held her in my arms and told her she will always be my angel as she passed.
Daniele's family lives in Brazil. Her mother and friends will make the trip from Brazil to attend her service. Donation will help cover the costs of their travel and lodging expenses while here.
All remaining funds will be donated to the foundation, Caring for a Cure. Caring For A Cure was founded by the nurses of the Mass General Adult Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant program with a goal to improve the journey of patients and families with cancer through research, resources, and awareness.
