On November 1st 2001 I married the love of my life Minnie Rose. We left the same year to work as missionaries in Kodiak Alaska. Since then we have served God as missionaries in Alaska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Arizona, working with diverse people and loving with exuberance.
But things have not all gone well for us. Life has been brutal and at times overwhelmingly hard. We have seen much tradgedy and pain. My faith has never wavered.
Minnie has not faired well. She struggles with chronic and severe anxiety and depression. She has not been able to work and at times has seemed to crawl into the darkness to hide.
Last March I lost my job as a pastor and have not been able to find work. We are living with my mother which has not been the best situation for Minnie. I have applied to work as a subsitute teacher, but have not yet been approved.
In May Minnie had a fight with my mother and retreated into spiritual darkness. I was scared for her and recognized that she needed a change of setting so I used the last of our savings to send her to North Carolina to stay with her family.
It seemed to help for a while. Minnie worked part time on a friend's blueberry farm. She helped tend bees. She smiled a lot. It felt so good to hear her laugh again.
But last week the darkness returned. She tried to commit suicide for the fourth time since I've known her. She is now in a behavioral health hospital in Western North Carolina.
I feel so very helpless and useless. I'm here in California and my beautiful love is trapped in darkness 3000 miles away. I'm still waiting on word from the job, but won't see any income for another month at least. I need to be beside her.
I need help. Specifically I need help with finances to travel across the country to North Carolina. I need finances to cover expenses while we are there and I need finances to give us time and resources to give Minnie the treatment that she needs. I need help to bring her home again.
This problem is immediate. Please help make this happen. Also if you believe in God, pray for Minnie that she might again walk in the light and for me that I might be strong enough to carry her home.
