Daniel's Heart

Donation protected
We could use some Help! This is not an easy thing to say by any means.... Daniel Baisley is my Husband and has been my best friend for over 10 years. He has been a major part of mine and my children's lives. He has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know, however, his heart is not doing very well and we are asking for any help you are able to give. Every little bit will help and be greatly appreciated. Daniel was born with a left sided SVC to the coronary sinus with absent innominate vein and Shone's complex consisting of bicuspid aortic valve, hypoplastic transverse arch, coarctation of the aorta, supravalvular mitral ring, subaortic stenosis, and aortic valve stenosis. He underwent coarctation repair early in life with a left carotid artery turndown. He subsequently underwent aortic valvulolotomy and resection of the supramitral valve ring in 1990 at age 2. Due to reccurent sub aortic and valvular stenosis, he underwent resection of the subaortic stenosis, (Ross Procedure) and placement of a 25mm pulmonary homograft in 1998 at age 10. Despite all of this if you know him he is a very humble and incredibly caring person. He loves to make people smile even when he is feeling aweful. Daniel has lived in Mio since he was in 1st grade and graduated from Mio AuSable School in 2006 and still currently resides here with myself and his 3 step children. Until recently he was the Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in town. In April of this year Daniel was taken to WBRMC where he was said to be in heart failure. He was transported and admitted to McLaren (Bay Med) and seen by the heart failure team who transferred him to Children's Hospital of Michigan. His Initial Echo showed moderate Aortic valve insufficiency with a moderately dilated left ventricle and severely depressed systolic function. He remained in the hospital for almost a week. At his follow up we saw no significant change. Dr's and Surgeons have decided that even though the risks are high his best chance is surgery. He is (as of today) considered to be in NYHA grade III heart failure. His cardiologists states that while the medications have helped, his left ventricular function has not changed. In addition his aortic root appears to be severely dialated (57mm). He is at a higher risk due to this being his 3rd redo sternotomy and he has depressed left ventricular function. He may have difficulty coming off of the bypass pump. There are also other complications including heart block requiring pacemaker, prolonged hospital stay and bleeding. Daniel has been unable to work and help support his family due to being off work until 8 weeks after surgery. If all goes well he will be able to return to work and besides needing blood thinners for the rest of his life we should see significant improvement in his overall quality of life. Any money donated will be used for traveling to appointments in Detroit and helping relieve our family of some of this financial burden. We understand that times are tough for everyone but every little bit helps. We have been trying to make ends meet on our own and have exhausted all other options. We are turning to this for help. If you can't donate please add us to your prayers! Thank you.
