Danial's Battle Against Cancer
On Thanksgiving eve, Daniál received a call from her gynecologist during her shift at Crystal Run Healthcare where she works as a Nurse, with unfortunate news stating her test results were positive for cancer after months of having multiple tests due to unexplained symptoms and not feeling well. Daniál was immediately advised that her treatment would be surrendered over to Montefiore Medical Center's GYN Oncology Specialty Clinic for additional testing to be performed. Danial's testing later confirmed a diagnosis of Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma ''Cervical Cancer". She was told a decision had to be made rather quickly. Danial was counseled with her husband and 3 children, by her Oncology team. Despite the unfortunate devasting news, Danial continued to work through it all with dignity and grace, just
as she did two years prior when she lost her mother to this terrible disease (cancer) in which she gave effortlessly of herself. Danial was given two options. The first option presented was, she could possibly remove the cancer by undergoing a very invasive surgery called a Radical Hysterectomy, which would remove her female reproductive system. The second option presented was, she could start receiving Chemo/Radiation combination which would kill and break down her organ system, killing both bad and healthy cells. Both options had pros and cons, and on the 26th of January Danial firmly chose option #1. Danial's Radical Hysterectomy surgery was performed through a large abdominal incision at Albert Einstein Medical Hospital, an hour and 45 minutes away from her home. Unfortunately, after the surgery Danial's blood levels continued to drop, doctors had to act quickly and keep blood readily available for her at all times. Danial had to be continuously monitored, and all staff assigned were close by her side. After surgery, Danial's bladder did not respond, and because of that she was sent home with a catheter in place, along with blood thinner injections for the next 6-8 weeks, which cost over $5000.
Danial's travel back home was extremely hard and very uncomfortable for her. This is just the beginning of her commute process back and forth to see her doctor/s. She has an upcoming follow-up appointment and other appointments aswell. We are currently awaiting results which will determine if she will also need Chemo/Radiation treatments after the surgery she just received. She will not be able to work, travel back and forth as normal, nor will she be able to help her husband with their medical expenses, plus their move which is supposed to take place within the next two months in April of this year. Most importantly, Danial is not able to attend to her children as she normally would.

Unfortunately, during Danial's post-op follow up visit the pathologist report revealed that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. Aggressive treatment will begin with radiation 5 days a week for a duration of 6 weeks, along with a combination of 6 chemotherapy sessions. This is only the beginning of her road to eradication of this terrible disease. She continues to hold her head high and exercise her immeasurable faith in her healing process. She is resting as best as she possibly can; as this is extremely taxing on her mind, body and soul. Please continue to keep her and her household lifted in prayer.
