Who are we?
Our names are Tania Moore and Nichola and we are Ignite Foundation CIC.
With the passion for dance, arts and performance, both have experience as community educators, youth work and producing corporate and community projects.
Schools, community groups, children and young people in our networks have been telling us that there is lack of availability in dance projects and progression routes and feel that dance offers life changing, resilience building and enriching opportunities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to allow young people to thrive creatively by igniting their belief and passion to achieve their full potential in dance. We want to challenge the common perception that a career path into dance and the arts is not available to everyone.
Who is it for?
With a focus on children and young people aged 7-19 years and up to 25 with lifelong learning difficulties and/or disabilities, we aim to break through social and economic barriers, giving dance opportunities to the marginalised young people in our community.
We endeavour to instil them with a sense of pride and achievement, cultivating and building their self-esteem and belief with a foundation of support and encouragement.
The show
Our first big showcase event was Dance Energy 2019 and we are now fundraising for Dance Energy 2020!
A 6 month integrated development programme which aims to empower children and young people through the art of dance.
For the last 5 years I have produced this dance extravaganza, bringing young driven people together with some of the top talent in UK dance industry in a show of pure dance passion.
Due to local cuts, this programme was no longer funded and would no longer be offered but after experiencing first hand the positive impact the programme has had on so many young people's lives I couldn't allow the kids to miss out on this experience without a fight.
Nichola and I both felt incredibly strongly about the benefits of this programme and our passion and drive led us to create Ignite Foundation C.I.C and launch Dance Energy.
As part of the show and experience we provide opportunities for the participants to attend a range of workshops, tasters and weekly rehearsals at schools, youth centres and community groups where they engage with dance mentors and form dance groups who will then compete in the live event at Cadogan Hall, London on 3rd July 2020.
We are ecstatic that we have been inundated with schools, youth centres and community groups wanting to participate and be a part of the show, but we still need help to make this a show a success for the community and ensure its future development and growth.
What do we need?
This show is going to cost around £15,000 and so far we have invested everything we have and called on every favour available but we still desperately need help to make this a show a success for the community and ensure its future.
The money we raise will be used to ensure this is an amazing experience for the young people involved by ensuring funds for the following:
Venue Hire
Sound equipment and technician
Refreshments for participants for rehearsals & the day of the show
Transport for participants
Costumes
Performer fees
Host fee
Goody bags for participants
Trophies for each category
Prizes
Show programs
Photographer
Videographer
