John Daniel Deason was born on August 19, 1988. He was a strong-willed, fiery, adventurous little boy…and it didn’t stop there!
We grew up in Twentynine Palms, California which is a military town, and our family wasn’t military. Watching the troops come back from Desert Storm is what sparked his interest in serving his country. He wanted to enlist more than anything! He got high and tights at hair cuts, always played war with his friends, and was always so excited to wave at the convoys coming through town. When he was 17, he enlisted in the United States Army. The family was so very proud of him and supported him throughout his tour in Iraq in 2007 and beyond. He was a very generous and caring man, with the biggest heart of gold ever.
He never wanted recognition for his service, his accomplishments, or anything because he felt he was just doing what he got paid to do. He was a hero to his friends and family, especially his nephew. He did not have children of his own, but his nephew was the apple of his eye. He’d give the world to that boy! His nephew looked up to him from day one. That was his idol, his Superman. His mission in life was simple…live life to the fullest and never take anything for granted…and he did just that.
On October 3rd, Dan lost his battle with PTSD. Now, I'm struggling to come up with the money to pay for his funeral, cremation, and urn because he did not want a military service and I'm trying my hardest to make sure his wishes are fulfilled. Please, help me give my baby brother the service he wanted.
