Dan Gallo lost house in QLD Floods

Dan Gallo’s Gold Coast house washed away minutes after family rescued from floods.

On Saturday morning, our colleague Dan Gallo nearly lost his family.

The dramatic rescue played out in the early hours of Saturday morning as the flooded Albert River devastated a street at Luscombe.

Helen Gallo and two children Sienna and Zander told of their horror as they watched their home crash into trees and power poles, as it was swept away in flood waters on the Gold Coast.

The family filmed as their house was swept away in floodwaters at the Gold Coast, and noticed towels and lights still on the roof. Helen Gallo said she called police 16 times but was told emergency services could not reach their Luscombe home.

Helen Gallo and family, was standing on the roof of their garage, before it collapsed from underneath them.

"All of a sudden, I've turned around and the garage has started sinking," Helen Gallo said.

"It's actually fallen underneath me and these two little ones have just grabbed my arms, and I've somehow just pulled myself back up."

Her daughter Sienna told Nine News she was scared she was going to die, and afraid to climb onto the roof to safety.

"It was really scary," she said.

Dan Gallo said it was the actions of his wife and the SES that ultimately saved his family, including their grandfather and their two huskies.

Please share and help spread the word, a donation of any size would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
