Dan and Nicole's Cancer Journey

Nine years ago when Dan and Nicole stood at the altar and pledged their love "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health", they could not have known how important those vows would become. Their newlywed life started out filled with joy as they were blessed with their first born Jesse and then shortly after, their little princess Sadie arrived. They were settling in to the their happy little family of four when the seizures started. After many tests and visits to the doctor, the diagnosis came back and it was devastating. It was determined that Dan had brain cancer and would need immediate surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
The start of this cancer journey has changed their lives in ways they could not have imagined. The financial strain on their family has been a challenge as Dan has been too unwell to work and Nicole has had to cut back her work hours to provide care for Dan. There have been added expenses with out of town trips to his numerous specialists appointments and the cost of his medications. After many months of treatments they were hopeful that his cancer journey was coming to an end and the worst was behind them.
This past week Dan began experiencing numerous seizures again and lost the feeling on the left side of his body and was unable to walk. He was taken to the hospital on Monday and it was discovered that the brain tumour has returned. He was immediately admitted to the hospital and scheduled for surgery today (Sunday).
Another brain surgery means another long and difficult recovery period for Dan where he will need full time care from Nicole. As you well know expenses for a small family can add up quickly. Although they have applied to receive the maximum disability assistance from the government, the amount they receive is minimal and nowhere near enough to cover their monthly expenses.
The fear of the unknown with Dan's health and recovery process is an overwhelming burden for Nicole. Adding financial stress as well is the last thing Nicole should be focussing on at this time.
In times of hardships for the ones we love, we often wonder what we can do and how we can help.
We have set up this Go Fund me so that we help to ease their burden in this time of need. Nicole and Dan are so grateful to all of the wonderful friends who have come along side then so far and blessed them in so many ways. This is an ongoing journey and they are going to need continued support.
Please consider donating to this beautiful family. The financial implications at this stage in their journey will be serious and scary if we cannot offer them support, and the reality of this has has been such a source of stress for both Dan and Nicole.
