On January 13, 2019, the unbelievable happened. The main sewer line from the Lima village backed up into Dan & Eileen Drake's home. When it stopped, their basement was covered in four feet of sewage water. Sewage also erupted out of their first floor toilets and sinks, covering the floors of four rooms.
At this point, Dan and Eileen have started to cover cleanup expenses out of their own pocket. Both insurance and village state this is not their responsibility. Clean up is not so simple as this is turning into a haz mat job. The cleaning agencies Dan and Eileen contacted do not want to clean this job and refer them to other agencies. The cost of cleaning and restoring remain uncertain as the quotes that come in are astronomical.
Their home is unlivable. Through the generosity of another, Dan and Eileen have been provided an apartment to stay in for the time being. Eileen had been caring for her mother for the past 3+ years. Due to this situation, she will be moving into an adult living community this coming week. Due to the care Eileen's mother requires, Eileen remains unable to work until her mother moves into the adult community.
Cost raised here will assist with paying the bills of the first round of cleanup, replacing everyday living items, providing funds for them to explore their next steps in this process. They are unable to take any furniture or belongings with them at this time. The odor in the house is horrific and anything that may be taken at a future date will need to be cleaned through professionals. This process will cost thousands and thousands of dollars.
At this point, their future remains uncertain. It is unclear if they will be able to restore their home or if it will be condemned.
During this process, Dan and Eileen's faith continues to grow and they stand amazed by God's provisions. Will you please stand by this amazing couple and help them during their time in need?
